Netherlands-Argentina 0:0

It's time to write a little bit about yesterday night's exciting soccer game Netherlands-Argentina, the last play of our dangerous "pool of death" in the first round of the World Soccer Championships in Germany, because during the game, I had to think of my good friends in the Southern hemisphere who must have been enjoying this exciting game as much as I did.

The Argentineans were ruling most of the game, that's a fact. The Oranje players, la "Naranja Mechanica" as the South-Americans call our orange team, were playing ok, but they were lucky that our defensive player Boularouz didn't score in his own goal and that the Argentineans didn't succeed in scoring (I don't know how this happened, because there was strong support from Maradona himself as a member of the audience). On the other hand, the Dutch had some nice chances (Dirkie Kuijt) and some very nice savings by our great goalie Edwin van der Sar, so in the end, they did quite well I think.
Marco van Basten, our coach, said the following after the game in Dutch television, in presence of our Crown Prince Willem-Alexander (who married Máxima, an Argentinean lady...): "well, I adviced my men not to score, because otherwise, the situation in the Dutch royal family would have become bad..."

For this game, I was dressed in orange, but I had a maté with my dad during the game! I hope we'll meet the Argentineans again in the finals (and I hope we'll win this time...).

Greetings from the Netherlands! Jeroen

At the pics, you can see the Löwenhosen (Dutch lion's trousers in stead of German lederhosen, leather trousers), which are not to be carried by supporters in stadiums, because they are from the beermark Bavaria, which is a competitor of Heineken and Budweiser...
